Multi-Sector Education Mission to New York, NY
Craft Alliance will lead and conduct a Multi-Sector Education Mission to three New York based trade shows that are running concurrently at the Javits Convention Centre in New York, May 18-23, 2018. To qualify, project participants should be mid-career artists, makers and designers with experience in their respective fields. This project will be of interest to those makers working in furniture, home décor, lighting, design and related products. The three trade shows; ICFF, NSS and Surtex are all related to the product design sector, including but not limited to; paper & stationery products, furniture, home décor, lighting, surface design, product design and art licensing for art reproduction.
Craft Alliance will lead a group of 6-8 craft, art and furniture producers in attending the upcoming trade shows in New York, NY. The purpose of this mission is to gather market intelligence information and participate in educational events & activities around core design sector events happening in New York during the month of May. Craft Alliance currently has travel assistance funding for Nova Scotia Participants only, however, participants from other Atlantic provinces are welcome. Check local provincial funding sources to travel assistance funding.
Craft Alliance is working to develop an exhibition showcase opportunity for next year – May 2019, where participants from the 2018 mission, would exhibit their products in 2019 as part of a group showcase of products from Atlantic Canada. Participants must have export potential in these sectors to participate.
New York City is host to a series of design focused industry events throughout the month of May which includes the trade shows noted above, along with other key design events like WANTED NYC Design and NYCxDesign .There are over 35 locations throughout New York, during this mission timeframe, to access design related programs, exhibitions, trade shows and events. NYCxDesign is the main filter for calendars and schedules for the various collaborations during the month of May. Craft Alliance will research and prepare schedules based on the 5 key events of this mission, then participants will be free to also identify other activity, based on the schedules online with the various partners.

Javits Convention Center, May 20-23, 2018. On Wednesday, May 23th, the ICFF opens its doors to the general public as well.
