Announcement: Craft Alliance Atlantic Welcomes Ellen Tomie
Ellen Tomie – Craft Alliance, Operations Coordinator
Craft Alliance Atlantic is excited to announce that Ellen Tomie of Halifax, will be joining the Alliance on Monday, January 31, 2022 as our new Operations Coordinator. We look forward to working with Ellen in the coming years and feel she will be a wonderful contributor to the craft community in Atlantic Canada.
The Operations Coordinator is a key position in the organization, responsible for the annual Craft East Buyers’ Expo, and our trade show programs in both Canada and the United States. Craft Alliance launched the Craft Hub Incubator at the Toronto Gift + Home Market in 2017 and has assisted over 40 Atlantic companies in accessing central and western Canadian markets, through that program. The Alliance also regularly assists Atlantic producers with access to new export markets attending trade shows in New York, Atlanta and other USA destinations.
Ellen Tomie, Operations Coordinator
Ellen Tomie (they/she) is a multi-passionate creator born and raised in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Surrounded by textile craft and music throughout their upbringing, Ellen went on to acquire their Bachelor of Fine Arts, Visual Arts at Memorial University of Newfoundland, Grenfell Campus (Formerly Sir Wilfred Grenfell College) in 2011. Completing two minors in both Art History and Business, and complimented by their Certificate in Graphic Design from Nova Scotia Community College in 2017, Ellen proves to be an agile communicator in language and visual elements alike. Ellen joins Craft Alliance Atlantic following three years working in programs and on-site events coordination in the private sector. When not working you can find her tinkering with a baking creation, cozied up at home with a good book, or exploring nature.
