The Craft Hub Activator Project will assist Atlantic Canadian producers and maker focused businesses from diverse communities including: BIPOC, persons who identify as 2SLGBTQ+ and persons with disabilities, with business development, coaching/mentoring, and increased sales through innovation, capacity building and product development. As export development is a key aspect of the Craft Alliance mandate, the program will also include export readiness and export market entry for those businesses interested in expanding beyond Atlantic Canada.
Craft Alliance will lead an Educational Mission to Intersect Chicago, November 3-7, 2021. This market intelligence and educational trade mission will be a pan-Atlantic mission with participation from the four Atlantic Provinces. Craft Alliance will coordinate a small group of export ready contemporary fine craftspeople to attend the Intersect Chicago at Navy Pier, Chicago, IL. We will focus on those contemporary craftspeople who are experienced in gallery exhibition and who are actively seeking gallery representation. The educational mission will include a full day exploration of the contemporary gallery market in Chicago and participate in an on-site Lecture Series, featuring guest speakers experienced in the contemporary fine craft market. There will also be a walking tour of galleries & arts centers, as well as touring the Intersect exposition. As a special component to this project, we will also be offering a virtual tour of Cockpit Arts in London, UK, as either a pre- or post- mission learning component. Contact Bernard Burton at Craft Alliance for more information.
Marking a return to in-person trade events to develop export markets for Atlantic Canadian craft producers, Craft Alliance will lead our CRAFT: Lab – Toronto Incubator Project to attend the Toronto Gift + Home Market trade show in January 2022. This will be a pan-Atlantic mission where Craft Alliance will lead the coordination and development of the project. The project will involve exhibitors from Atlantic Canada looking to expand their sales to Central and Western Canada.
The Toronto Gift + Home Market is a wholesale trade show produced by the Canadian Gift Association and is held twice a year in Toronto, Ontario. (Previously known as the Toronto Gift Fair). Craft Alliance is currently accepting expressions of interest for this project – due to increased interest in the project and demand for space, booth fees for January 2022 are expected to range from $750 to $1,500.
