Craft Alliance will coordinate and manage a group of Nova Scotia craft producers and museum representatives to attend a Best Practices mission in Boston in November 2018. The project will be supported by the Province of Nova Scotia and participants will be eligible for travel assistance funding.
The project will consist of participants flying in to Boston, directly from Halifax, to attend a workshop, 3-4 hours in length consisting of a guest speaker, along with a panel discussion group that would be specific to museum retail, buying, merchandising and product development. The following day will consist a full-day program to with site-visits of museums to see their retail shops and experience what other museums are doing in the area of product development.
Craft Alliance will lead a small group of 6-8 Atlantic based craft producers to attend the NY NOW trade show in New York, NY, from February 3-6, 2019. NY NOW is a 4 day trade show with set-up and travel days included in the project. Each individual participant will receive assistance for booth costs and related expenses under the project. Participants are responsible for their own travel and shipments of product samples to the NY NOW show. Craft Alliance will provide cohesive and coordinated marketing materials and promotional opportunities and an educational component pre-show.

To further develop export markets for Atlantic Canadian craft producers, Craft Alliance will lead our second presentation called CRAFT: Lab – Toronto Incubator Project to attend the TORONTO GIFT FAIR trade show in January 2019. This will be a pan-Atlantic mission where Craft Alliance will lead the coordination and development of the project. The project will involve NEW first-time exhibitors from Atlantic Canada looking to expand their sales to Central and Western Canada. The TORONTO GIFT FAIR is a wholesale trade show produced by the Canadian Gift Association and is held twice a year in Toronto, Ontario.
Approximately 6-10 Atlantic Canadian craft producers will be selected to participate in a Pavilion Showcase at the TORONTO GIFT FAIR trade show in January 2019. As the timeline is very short, applications should be completed and forwarded to Craft Alliance immediately.
Craft East Buyers’ Expo is a vehicle for the purpose of promoting crafts and giftware manufactured exclusively in the Atlantic Provinces. For two days in February the finest in candles, clothing, food, glass, home decor, jewellery, leather, metal, native, paintings, paper, pottery, stone, wood and much more will be gathered at the Homewood Suites & Conference Centre in beautiful downtown Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada.
