Exhibit at Atlanta Market (AmericasMart) – July 2020

Craft Alliance is inviting applications from Atlantic Canadian craft producers seeking to exhibit at the Atlanta Market this coming July 15-19, 2020. Deadline to apply is March 27; project must have minimum 5 accepted companies to go ahead. The below funding support is for companies applying for their own exhibition spaces at AmericasMart.

This project will be funded through the ACOA – Business Development Program (BDP) and as such, participants will receive support for up to 75% of Eligible costs relating to booth space rental and on-site ancillary rentals.  Participants must complete a detailed Business Profile application and two follow-up surveys after the trade show is complete. A participation fee will be required to secure funding through this project. 

Please note: the below booth costs are an estimate – please confirm actual booth expenses through AmericasMart.

Standard booth cost (10’x10′): $4,000 USD

Emerging booth (88 sq ft in Handmade Designs – subject to show approval): $1,892 USD

Plus additional display costs (tables, shelves, chairs, etc.); travel expenses.

Participant Criteria

To be eligible, you must:

– Be an export-ready craft producer from Atlantic Canada
– Product must be handmade and business located in Atlantic Canada
– Complete the application requirements and jury process, as set out by the Atlanta Gift & Home Show (Apply to exhibit via the AmericasMart Exhibitor Portal or contact an AmericasMart sales agent)
– Be approved by Craft Alliance for participation (limited space available)
– Sign a participation contract committing to the use of funds and agree to participate in all follow-up surveys on project results, which are submitted to ACOA after the project
– Hold a valid passport required for entrance to the United States
– No outstanding fees or reports for Craft Alliance or ACOA projects

The industry’s largest gift and home furnishings Market of the summer, featuring more than 8,000 brands across all categories. Market includes an array of seminars and demos, and industry networking events. Buyers attending this show include everyone in the home furnishings and gift industries: Buyers from small, medium and large retailers, designers, rug retailers, event planners, buying groups, bloggers, media.

AmericasMart

AmericasMart Atlanta is a wholesale trade center located in Downtown Atlanta, Georgia. The exhibition center is one of the largest permanent wholesale trade centers in the world. AmericasMart Atlanta consists of three buildings totaling seven million square feet. The Mart opened in 1957, as Atlanta Market Center (AMC), and hosts more than a dozen trade shows every year including The Atlanta International Gift and Home Furnishings Market, Atlanta Apparel and Fall Design Week. Trade show exhibitors rent permanent showrooms as well as temporary booths during trade shows. Some permanent showrooms are open daily, though many are open only part of the time or during trade shows. AmericasMart Atlanta is not open to the public and only employees and guests of registered businesses are admitted.

The January and July Atlanta International Gift & Home Furnishings Markets attract the industry’s largest and most powerful retailers plus thousands (and thousands) of specialty stores from all 50 states and 84 countries from around the world.

The cost for a standard 10×10 booth is $ 4000 USD – Corners are an additional $385-$485.

The juried collection of Handmade Designs/Handmade Jewelry is  for artists that produce their own work within their own studio. It features design-oriented – handmade creations in glass, ceramics, textiles, fiber, mix media, home accents, decorative accents, gifts, ornaments, wood and paper and Jewelry.

If a company/artist  has never participated in a wholesale tradeshow, they may qualify for the Emerging Artist Category.  The category is also a juried collection.  The Emerging Artist Category was established in 2012 in an effort to help artists with a venue to expand their production by beginning to product and sell to retailers.

The Emerging Artist Category is an incubator for the highly regarded Handmade Designs Category. Both categories are located in building 3, floor 2.

Qualified artists exhibit at a discounted rate – beginning at $ 1892 US for an 88 sq. ft. booth. 

Interested participants should contact Craft Alliance ASAP, as individuals will need to be juried by AmericasMart Atlanta as well as Craft Alliance for this project. It is advised that new exporters start looking into logistics of attending an international wholesale show (ie. whether an ATA carnet is required, how to travel with samples, etc.) before being accepted by AmericasMart.
